Overview
ColorCollector does not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data. All color data stays on your device.
Data Stored Locally
ColorCollector stores the following data on your device using Chrome's built-in storage APIs. This data never leaves your browser:
- Color history — Colors you've picked, with timestamps
- Saved palettes — Palettes you've created or extracted from pages
- Preferences — Your chosen color format, theme, loupe size, and other settings
- Cached results — Temporary inspect and palette data for the current browser session
You can clear your color history at any time from the extension's options page. Uninstalling the extension removes all stored data.
Website Content Access
When you activate the color picker, ColorCollector temporarily reads visual information from the current webpage to perform its core function:
- Tab screenshots — A screenshot of the visible tab is captured locally to power the magnifying loupe
- CSS color values — Computed styles (background color, text color, borders) are read from page elements to extract the page palette
This data is processed entirely on your device. No webpage content is ever transmitted to any external server.
Third-Party Services
ColorCollector uses one third-party service:
- ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com) — Handles Pro upgrade payments and license verification. When you install the extension, a unique API key is generated and stored locally. This key is sent to ExtensionPay to verify your license status. Payment processing is handled by Stripe through ExtensionPay. No color data, browsing history, or page content is shared with this service.
Data We Do Not Collect
To be explicit, ColorCollector does not collect or transmit:
- Personally identifiable information (name, email, address)
- Browsing history or URLs you visit
- Keystrokes, clicks, or mouse movements
- Analytics or usage telemetry
- Advertising data
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or transfer your data to any third party. The only external communication is the license verification with ExtensionPay described above.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy is updated, the changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
